How can you go wrong with the mountains, the excellent outfitters and the super pairing of horse and riders......but it happens. The "gourmet homecooking" missed the mark. We were hoping for some local fare and great alberta beef. As did the camping facilities. The hot showers seemed to be too much trouble and or weren't working. Never have I gone camping and not had campfires in the evening but excuses ranged from too tired or it was too hot. Side bar.....it is not hot at night in the mountains.
I will certainly be back again for the summer 2016 ride in Waterton National Park.
A spectacular very different summer vacation for a person from Ontario.!!
Last year was my first trail ride and was I impressed!! At age 65, I thought I may be too old for this, but at least one person was more than 20 years older .
Each ride, the scenery was spectacular!! Each ride had a bit of a challenge to it, so experienced riders were not bored. One of our riders even had a swim in a glacial lake !!
One of the greatest weeks of my life. My wife and I both rode horseback for six days throughout the backcountry of the mountains. Great food, campfire sing-a-longs, breathtaking scenery, horses... what else could you want?
The best of the best! and an historic group from the days of exceptional service and hospitality. The best part is they do different trails throughout the Rockies
Last summer was my first experience with the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies. What an amazing experience! Great people, great scenery, great horses. Now I understand why John Denver wrote "ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH."
Above all, the ranchers that provided the horses and took us on the rides, were above and beyond. Each rider is matched to a horse and with little or no experience on my part, I couldn't believe the attention to detail and safety. The first day I mentioned I was sore in my groin and the next day, the saddle was adjusted so that uncomfortable feeling was gone thereafter.
We loved the Rockies but the whole package certainly didn't live up to it's promisses and was overpriced for what was provided.
The meals were great the people were great and the set up was great.
